Southwest
The viticultural region to the south-west of France borders the southern tip of Bordeaux and as a result the type of grapes and the style of wine are very similar. Though not all that well known internationally, there is plenty of good wine to be found all over this region. The whites range from dry to sweet while the reds are full and rich and stylish. Look out for wines from Bergerac, Madiran, Monbazillac, Cahors and Juracon.

Key grape varieties:
R Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Tannat, Malbec, Fer-Servadou
