For wine lovers, Southern Italy has to be one of the most exciting places in the world at the moment. As in much of Italy, the winemaking has just got better and better and there are now high-quality, affordable wines in many of the southern wine regions. For the best value, look out for wines from both Campagnia and Puglia which in the £10-£12 range produce exceptional quality.
Stunning reds and fresh, good quality whites are made from a wide range of local grape varieties that are all worth trying. We expect wines from this part of Italy to continue to accrue exposure and recognition – lets hope the prices stay reasonable.
