Semillon
Semillon is one of the two main white wine grapes of Bordeaux and frequently blended with Sauvignon Blanc, the barrel fermented wines these two can produce are stunning and the best examples would be from Passac-Leognan and Graves. Semillon also plays a large role in the production of the world famous sweet wines of Sauternes and Barsac. To further its already impressive reputation in Bordeaux, the best dry non-blended Semillons come from the Hunter Valley in Australia where the rich, luxurious and voluptuous wines typify the variety. Semillon is also used worldwide to produce plenty of fairly neutral, cheap white wines.
