Roussanne
Roussanne is the more delicate member of the Northern Rhone ’s dynamic duo and adds finesse, floral delicacy and complexity to Marsanne’s full body and silky texture. Though not really grown extensively outside the Rhone region there are a number of exemplary old vine examples. This variety reaches its apogee in the very rare Hermitage Blanc and is never cheap.
Primary fruit character: greengages, white flower blossom
Secondary fruit character: almonds, hawthorn, herbs, angostura bitters
