Sweet, rich red and blueberry fruit with a touch of chocolate and green pepper laced with silky oak. Sounds funky, but this Bonarda is a joy to drink - smooth, complex and long on the finish. For an interesting and really expressive red you couldn't go far wrong with a bottle of this. The varietal is originally Italian but is now done far better in Argentina and it shows in this wine. The problem is very few people would go out and buy a Bonarda so we confidently guarantee that you will like this wine or we will immediately refund the price of the bottle (just email us once you've tasted the wine and let us know what you didn't like about and we'll refund the price - no quibbles! Applies to one bottle only). It's hard to introduce new tastes, varieties and flavours to wine drinkers (who tend to stick with what they know) - but if you like big, smooth red wines then this really is for you. Go on... give it a try.
Appearance - red coloured with blue hues - very enticing
Nose - expressive and jump out of the glass, wild berries and dark chocolate character
Palate - round, potent and robust. Great structure, long and complete

And here’s another thing Argentina does rather well – Bonarda. Intense purple in colour with blue hues, the nose is an offering of ripe blackberries and strawberries with a lovely whiff of tomato leaves. It is round and robust on the palate with notes of mint and tobacco peeking through the ripe dark fruit; there are also nice notes of glazed fruit, mint and dark chocolate. “A gently spicy version of a grape surging in popularity, with tangy berry fruit and a smoky note to the finish.” Simon Woods, Imbibe Magazine
