Pinot Blanc
AKA: Pinot Bianco, Weissburgunder

Pinot Blanc tends to produce a full bodied white wine of neutral flavour and rich texture. It is also quite good when made into sparkling wine. Planted throughout France and used extensively as a single varietal or blend in Alsace and also in Burgundy. The new world has picked up the baton and, if you know where to look, good examples can be found far and wide.

Primary fruit character: apple and pear but fairly neutral in many cases
Secondary fruit character: smoky grapes, nutty
Spiritual home: Burgundy, Alsace, France
Home from home: Italy, Austria, Oregon & California (USA)
