New South Wales
Wine-making in NSW takes place in the Hunter Valley , Mudgee, Riverina, Queensland , Canberra District, Hilltops and Orange regions. Though production is dominated by demand for mass-market wine there are, as always in Australia , a number of quality wineries making great wine from great fruit. The best Semillon’s and Shiraz’s from the Hunter are legendary (as are the prices!) but the region as a whole is now producing interesting and affordable wines.
