On a recent visit to Burgundy we picked up a small parcel of this superb Burgundian white. In 2011, the Gallafres Vineyard will be awarded 1er Cru status based on the extraordinary wines they are producing so we thought we'd grab some of that 1er quality fruit whilst it's still at village Burgundy prices! Floral, appley and full of citrus on the nose, the wine invites you to take that first sip. In the mouth the wine has a very fine quality and a refreshing elegance. Starting to drink in 2010, the wine is opening up well and will continue to develop dried fruit characteristics but for the time being it's youthful period should provide some pretty tasty drinking.

The hamlet of "Les Galaffres" lies on a south-facing hillside. The marl and limestone soil here showcases the qualities of the chardonnay varietal.

Food match - well suited for cold appetizers and starters, cold fish platters or fish dishes in light creamy sauce; a nice aperitif idea as well.On average, this wine should be aged 2 to 5 years.
