Chile has rapidly established itself a reputation for quality, great value and some truly memorable wines. Like Argentina, Chile may still be some way off the overall standards of California or Australia, but it is certainly among the best of the rest of New World producers. The Valle Central, consisting of Maipo, Curico, Maule and Rapel Valleys, is where much of the better Chilean wine is to be found, Rapel in particular is showing signs of an ability to produce fine fruit and excellent wines.
