Excellent wines abound in this part of Italy and a whole generation of new wine makers are producing good red wine from Montepulciano (the grape), Sangiovese and Sagrantino.
Good international varieties are also made here, along with stylish, highly drinkable white wine from Verdicchio. Lambrusco, Orvieto and Frascati.
