Carignan AKA: Carignano, Mazuelo, Carinena This is the most widely planted grape in France and produces some decent, rustic style reds when care is taken. It is now planted in many wine-producing nations across the world and is often seen as a workhorse, blending grape. The Spanish do some inteesting things with it and it has the potential to work but it is rather unfashionable and often overlooked.
